Our Medically Informed Comprehensive ADHD Assessment combines psychological and psychiatric expertise to ensure the most accurate diagnosis and individualized care. It follows the same “gold standard” CADDRA-based process as our standard ADHD assessment, with the addition of a medical consultation and personalized treatment plan.
This assessment includes a full psychological evaluation plus an in-person session with a psychiatrist. The MIC-ADHD Assessment is an inter-disciplinary, and highly integrative evaluation. It is a collaborative process designed to provide a deep, holistic understanding of your socio-emotional functioning, developmental history, co-occurring conditions, and medical needs. The psychiatrist reviews the psychologist’s findings, meets with the client, and creates a tailored medical treatment plan that may include recommendations for medication, psychotherapy, and lifestyle changes.
With the client’s consent, the psychiatrist may collaborate directly with the family doctor to support the safe and coordinated implementation of treatment recommendations within the client’s overall medical care. This integrated approach ensures both accurate diagnosis and coordinated medical follow-up.
The Medically Informed Comprehensive ADHD Assessment is a coordinated process that integrates psychological evaluation with medical expertise. During intake, clients are booked for both their psychological assessment and psychiatry appointment to ensure a seamless and efficient experience.
The psychologist begins by gathering a detailed understanding of your background through a structured clinical interview and review of relevant history and documentation. This information forms the foundation for the psychiatrist’s work. Prior to meeting you, the psychiatrist reviews the psychologist’s assessment and developmental findings, then conducts an in-person consultation to explore medical considerations in greater depth.
Following both components, the psychologist and psychiatrist work closely together to integrate their perspectives and finalize a comprehensive report. This report includes a clear diagnostic summary and individualized treatment recommendations that may address ADHD as well as other relevant emotional or medical concerns.
Importantly, the MIC-ADHD assessment takes a broader view of mental health. It can identify and diagnose conditions such as depression and anxiety when present, and provide recommendations or referrals if other conditions are suspected - including autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and other psychiatric concerns. While the assessment may not formally diagnose these additional conditions, it ensures that they are recognized and clinically addressed where appropriate.
The psychiatrist typically does not prescribe medication directly but can coordinate with your family doctor to support ongoing care. Our nurse practitioner is also available for follow-up or prescription needs when appropriate.
A referral from your family doctor must be provided before the psychiatry appointment can take place, and our team will be happy to facilitate this process. If you do not have a family doctor, our clinic can help arrange a referral through our nurse practitioner when appropriate.
The total cost of the MI-ADHD assessment is $3,800, billed as 14 hours of psychological services. Additional fees may apply for clients without OHIP coverage.
Step 1.
Client schedules and completes a free intake call. Both the psychological assessment and psychiatry appointments are scheduled at this stage.
Step 2.
Structured interview and tests to evaluate ADHD symptoms. A preliminary report is prepared and shared with the psychiatrist
Step 3.
An in-person session with the psychiatrist, who reviews assessment results and meets with the client to discuss findings.
Step 4.
The psychiatrist prepares a tailored medical treatment plan, appended to the psychologist’s final report which is then shared with the family doctor for continuity of care.
Step 5.
Feedback call with our Clinic Director. Dr. Saeid Chavoshi, approximately 6 weeks post initial interview. Patient receives final report and next-step recommendations.

How is this assessment different from the standard ADHD assessment?
It includes an added medical component - a psychiatry consultation and tailored medical treatment plan. This ensures your psychological and medical needs are addressed together.
The MIC-ADHD Assessment includes everything in the standard ADHD assessment but adds a psychiatry consultation for a deeper, medically informed understanding of your symptoms. It’s a collaborative process between a psychologist and psychiatrist that not only assesses ADHD but also screens for other mental health or medical factors that may affect attention, mood, or functioning. The result is a more comprehensive report with both psychological and medical recommendations, including guidance on medication, therapy, and lifestyle strategies.
How do I opt in for the MI-ADHD Assessment?
We recommend opting in during your intake call so both your psychological and psychiatry appointments can be scheduled together. Because the psychiatrist’s schedule fills quickly, booking during intake helps ensure the entire process can be completed within approximately eight weeks. Our team will confirm your referral details and coordinate all appointments for a smooth experience.
How long does the process take?
Most clients complete the full process within about 6-8 weeks - from the initial psychological assessment to the final feedback call.
What happens if I don’t meet the criteria for ADHD?
If the assessment does not indicate ADHD, you’ll still receive a detailed report explaining the findings and outlining other possible factors, such as anxiety, depression, or learning challenges. The report includes personalized recommendations for treatment or next steps. If you completed the MIC-ADHD assessment, the psychiatrist will also review your results and provide additional medical guidance or referrals as needed.
Do I need a referral for this assessment?
A referral from a family doctor or nurse practitioner is required for the psychiatry portion of the Medically Informed ADHD Assessment. If you do not have a family doctor, our clinic can help arrange a referral through our nurse practitioner when appropriate.
